Why We’re Doing It

Half Bear starts with a wish that’s probably familiar: to go out for a good beer and bring the dog along.

For Duffy, it follows years of brewing in Philadelphia at Bar Hygge and Earth Bread + Brewery. That work taught him to pay as much attention to the people at the bar as the beer in their glasses. He’s taking those lessons into Half Bear, with dogs welcome in the plans from the beginning.

We want this to become a regular stop for the neighborhood. A place where you know the people behind the bar and can spend an afternoon with your Best Friends. That’s the point of Half Bear, and it’s what we’re working toward.
